IFS and Trauma Informed Psychotherapist, BSc, MA, MBACP

About me

I am an experienced integrative psychotherapist working with inner parts. IFS (Internal Family Systems) is a gentle, yet powerful approach that goes beyond insight and talking alone. It helps us to explore the different “parts” of you - the inner critic, the people-pleaser, the part that withdraws when things feel too much or relies on coping strategies to numb underlying emotional pain. In IFS therapy, the aim is to understand, support, and gradually heal these parts, allowing for greater harmony and overall balance to your inner and outer world.

A significant part of my work focuses on attachment and early relational experiences. When our emotional needs were not consistently met or welcomed in childhood, we may adapt by hiding aspects of ourselves or disconnecting from certain feelings. Over time, these adaptations can show up as anxiety, depression, shame, emotional numbness, or persistent self-criticism.

I also work with intergenerational and cultural influences, including family patterns and the impact of marginalisation or oppression. Some people experience this as carrying emotional burdens that do not fully belong to them. We explore this gently and at your pace, with curiosity rather than judgement.

Alongside this, my work is trauma-informed and somatic, recognising that experiences are held not only in thoughts but also in the nervous system and body. Therapy can support greater regulation, internal safety, and a more stable sense of self.

I offer a calm and safe space where you can begin to relate to yourself with more understanding and compassion, reconnect with your strengths, and gradually shift long-standing patterns in a way that feels manageable and respectful of your pace. Currently all my sessions are online and I have a limited availability.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Counselling Skills from Middlesex University, and an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton.

I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, having completed Level 1 and Level 2 trainings in 2022 with the UK IFS Institute.

I have undertaken ongoing specialist CPD training in areas including developmental and complex trauma, early attachment difficulties, nervous system regulation and polyvagal theory, polarised parts work, and intergenerational trauma. This ongoing training supports my integrative, trauma-informed approach and my work with the lasting impact of early relational experiences on emotional and relational patterns in adulthood.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I have extensive experience working with a wide and diverse range of emotional and mental health difficulties across both NHS and voluntary sector settings.

This includes volunteering with the Samaritans, supporting individuals experiencing acute emotional distress, and working within bereavement services supporting clients through loss and complicated grief.

I have also worked as an NHS counsellor within London’s Lambeth IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service, supporting clients with anxiety, depression, and related difficulties in a structured therapeutic setting.

Alongside this, I have over a decade of experience in private practice working with trauma, attachment difficulties, and longer-term emotional and relational patterns.

I have lived and worked across different countries and cultural contexts, which has informed my sensitivity to identity, belonging, and the impact of wider social and cultural influences on emotional wellbeing.

My interest in trauma work is deeply rooted in both, my own personal and professional experience as well as curiosity about how early experiences, relationships, and life transitions shape our sense of self and ways of coping.
