About me

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss or changes in your life, or simply feel that things aren’t quite right, counselling can help you find a way forward. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you will be heard and supported.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills, Interpsyche (NHS and BACP accredited training provider)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling, Interpsyche
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
  • I trained in an NHS GP surgery and continue to work in an NHS setting post-qualification.

Prior to training to become a counsellor, I worked in education for over 20 years. I therefore have a very good idea of the inherent stresses resulting from working in this profession. I have also trained and worked as a coach and mentor to staff in a school setting.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

You may be considering counselling for many reasons. You might be feeling anxious, depressed, stressed or generally overwhelmed by what’s happening in your life right now. You may have a clear idea of what isn’t working for you or you may just have an underlying sense that something isn’t right. Often our past experiences can echo into the present, manifesting in how we see ourselves and relate to others and the world around us. Through gently identifying and exploring these patterns, we can begin to make connections that can lead to greater self-awareness and improved relationships both with yourself and others in your life.

I work on the premise that you are the expert in your life. As an integrative counsellor, I can draw on several counselling modalities to find an approach that is tailored to your needs. Our work together will be collaborative but led by what you bring to sessions and at a pace that feels right for you. Whatever you bring to sessions, you can be assured you will be met with compassion, integrity and without judgement.

Taking the first step can be daunting and it is vitally important that you find a counsellor that is right for you. I therefore offer a free 20-minute telephone or online consultation where you can discuss what brings you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and get a feel for how I work. There is no obligation. If working together feels right for you, we can take it from there.
