About me
Hello, my name is Alina. I offer a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space, where you can explore the issues you want to understand, work through, or feel better about.
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, experienced in supporting clients with various issues, such as:
- anxiety
- self-esteem
- depression
- grief and bereavement
- trauma
- relationship and family difficulties
- fears
- stress management
- Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD and other neurodiverse experience
- key life-stage changes, such as perimenopause or parenting
How I work and what this can offer
I work in an integrative way, which means we can collaborate to shape the therapeutic process around your individual needs, whilst our work remains grounded in a client-led and person-centred approach. The work can be long-term or short-term, depending on your availability and preference.
I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, including Autism, ADHD and OCD, informed both by close family experience and a genuine passion for supporting neurodiverse individuals. I understand the challenges of navigating a world that is still largely neuronormative, and I aim to help clients find balance, confidence and self-acceptance within it.
My hope is to help you navigate this complex interaction between neurodiverse experience and the world surrounding us, whether the neurodiverse person is you, your child, your significant other, your sibling or parent.
I also support people facing work–life pressures or transitions at key life stages, such as new parenthood, mid-life changes, and – specifically for women – the emotional and physical shifts that can arise postpartum or during perimenopause and menopause.
Whilst so much information flows around us about the psychosomatic impact of the changes at such key life-stages, the lived-in experience can be overwhelming and confusing at times. We can work collaboratively to help you find a way forward that feels right and is manageable.
Alongside that and often as part of it, I often work with clients on stress management, emotional regulation, fears and anxieties and relationship difficulties.
Stress, anxiety, even fears can represent an unconscious way in which our inner, authentic self is trying to reach a better balance in life. However, this can present in a way that often results in feeling a loss of control, instead. Together, we can explore how you might be able to work through these habitual drives and re-channel the energy in a more helpful way.
My background and how I hope it can help us connect
In addition to close experience of neurodiversity in my family, I have been through grief and bereavement, trauma and persistent anxiety. I have worked through these with the help of counselling myself, and I have been deeply grateful for the support I received during those times. These experiences have shaped my belief in the value of therapy and my hope that I can offer others the same sense of understanding, steadiness and care.
Life rarely follows a smooth or predictable path; sometimes it feels overwhelmingly uneven, and other times not quite uneven enough, to allow us to feel we can "justify" seeking help. Yet we all encounter moments when we feel lost, stuck, shocked, confused or lonely, and reaching out can be an important first step toward feeling grounded again.
My aim is to walk alongside you as you navigate whatever is going on for you at this point in your life, offering support that I hope feels attuned, respectful and genuinely collaborative.
