About me
Hello my name is Alex (she/her) and I am an integrative counsellor based in Leicester, and my approach is down‑to‑earth, human, and centred on real connection. I don’t use clinical language or expect you to fit into a theory. Instead, I offer a space where you can slow down, breathe, and make sense of what’s going on in your life with someone who genuinely listens.
Although I’m passionate about supporting people as they explore early experiences, trauma, and identity, I also understand that people come to counselling for many different reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, curious about yourself, or simply wanting a space that’s yours. Whatever brings you here is welcome
My background includes working in cancer support, LGBTQ+ organisations, trauma recovery services, and community mental health settings. These experiences have taught me that people don’t need fixing; they need understanding, compassion, and the chance to explore their story at their own pace.
How I Work
I keep things simple, warm, and collaborative. You won’t be met with jargon or a clipboard. Instead, we’ll explore what’s happening for you in a way that feels safe and manageable.
I often bring gentle psychoeducation into our work, not to overwhelm you with theory, but to help you understand why you might be feeling or reacting in certain ways. Many people find that having language for their experiences brings relief, clarity, and a sense of empowerment.
Together, we might look at:
- How experiences shape current patterns
- Why your nervous system responds the way it does
- How boundaries, relationships, and identity influence your wellbeing
- Practical ways to soothe, regulate, and reconnect with yourself
But we’ll always go at your pace, and you choose what feels right.

What You Can Expect
People often tell me they feel comfortable with me quickly. I aim to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, messy, unsure, hopeful, hurting, curious, or anything in between. My role is to walk alongside you, offer insight when it’s helpful, and support you in understanding yourself more deeply.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have spent more than ten years working in the NHS and voluntary sector, delivering mental health awareness courses and exploring the connection between early experiences, emotional patterns, and personality. This experience informs the gentle psychoeducation I offer in therapy, helping clients make sense of their inner world in a clear and accessible way.
I’ve spent years running courses on personality‑related difficulties and how early trauma shapes the way we relate to ourselves and others. This experience has deepened my belief that our responses make sense in the context of what we’ve lived through, and I bring that understanding into therapy in a gentle, grounded way.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information
I understand that right now many people feel priced out of support, and that counselling can seem expensive or inaccessible. Because of this, I offer affordable sessions at £25, with a review after six months. My motivation is simple: I want therapy to be something people can actually access, not just something they think about. Everyone deserves a space to talk, reflect, and feel supported.
Before booking in our first session I offer a free ten-minute call to see if the service I offer is right for you.
