About me
Hello, My name is Alex and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I specialise in working with people from all walks of life.
I offer you a safe, warm and confidential space where you will be able to express whatever is going on for you. I am passionate about helping clients explore and work through any difficulties and issues they may be experiencing or have experienced in your life.
My therapy style is personable and warm. As the relationship develops, I will not hold back in challenging you in the interest of getting the best out of you.
I will join you on your journey into self-discovery and facilitate your exploration. I believe that you are an expert in your own life, experiences and how you feel about them, I am merely someone who is joining you while you uncover and navigate your way through it.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training and experience in cultural/diversity sensitivity have allowed me to work with clients from a range of different backgrounds, and I pride myself on my ability to connect with a diverse range of people regardless of ethnicity, age, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation or gender identification.
Being mixed ethnicity allows me to draw from a unique and inclusive upbringing using my experience of growing up in a multicultural society to understand my client's individual experience and work with how that impacts how they view themselves.
I have extensive experience working with people who are interested in exploring their identity and focusing on how they view themselves and their place in society.
I have completed an introduction to Art therapy workshops and intermediate coaching courses which I occasionally use in my practice.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
The approach to my practice is integrative which allows me to draw from various therapeutic modalities to tailor therapy to your individual and unique needs. Some modalities I utilise include psychodynamic, mindfulness, person centred and elements of existentialism.
My integrative model means we will look at your conditions of worth alongside your unconscious processes. We will look at your value systems and work psychodynamically to identify where the foundations of these lay.
The therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of therapeutic change and I will offer you unconditional positive regard to counteract your conditions of worth.
Most importantly I want you to use the therapy room to be your most unapologetic self feeling free of judgement.
I offer short-term therapy with sessions lasting from 6-18 weeks as well as longer-term, open-ended therapy which may be more suitable if you are considering on-going support
