About me
Alaina Pedrosa MBACP
Hello, I'm Alaina, a qualified integrative counsellor and Registered General Nurse. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is bringing you to counselling, at a pace that feels right for you.
My background in nursing, spanning more than 15 years, has given me extensive experience of supporting people through some of life's most challenging moments. Alongside this, my counselling work has allowed me to support clients experiencing bereavement, cancer diagnosis and recovery, trauma, addiction, homelessness, and the emotional impact of significant life changes.
I have worked with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. These roles have deepened my understanding of grief, loss, trauma, resilience and the importance of feeling heard and understood.
I work from an integrative perspective, tailoring therapy to each person's individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship, creating a safe and trusting environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I also have an interest in creative approaches.
People seek counselling for many different reasons. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or stuck, struggling with loss or change, living with the effects of trauma, or simply looking for a space to understand yourself more fully. Whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to offer a respectful, collaborative and supportive relationship where you can feel accepted without judgement.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework. I am committed to ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision and reflective practice to ensure I provide safe and ethical counselling.
Finding the right counsellor is an important first step. If you feel my approach may be a good fit, I would be pleased to arrange an initial conversation to discuss what you are looking for and answer any questions you may have.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
