About me
Counselling for mums with ADHD or suspected ADHD
Motherhood can feel like a lot at the best of times. When your brain works differently, it can feel like you’re doing it all on hard mode and quietly wondering why everyone else seems to cope better.
I’m Abi, and I offer a warm, down-to-earth space to untangle the overwhelm and start enjoying motherhood rather than just getting through it.
I support mums who have an ADHD diagnosis, who are waiting for assessment, or who suspect their brain works a bit differently. Whether your child is a newborn or a teenager, you might be struggling with:
- Mental overload
- Sensory overwhelm and big emotions that seem to come from nowhere
- Mum guilt and feeling like you’ve lost your sense of self
- Feeling alone in it all
Many mums with ADHD come to me wanting support with parenting and to stop the overwhelm. As we work together, other things often surface too, like anxiety, past experiences, or childhood stuff. There’s no pressure, and we’ll go at your pace and follow what matters most to you.
You don’t need a diagnosis to work with me, and I won’t assume I know what your experience is like. You’re the expert on you.
Our sessions combine three things:
- Understanding: making sense of how ADHD can show up in motherhood, in plain English with no jargon.
- Regulation: practical, nervous-system-informed tools for the moments when everything feels too much.
- You: person-centred work to reconnect with who you are beyond the to-do list.
My approach is warm, honest, and often a bit funny, because motherhood is a lot and a little humour helps.
You’ll leave sessions feeling heard, with a clearer understanding of your brain and tools you can actually use. The aim is to stop surviving motherhood and start living it!
Training, qualifications & experience
I’m a qualified counsellor and a member of the NCPS (MNCPS Accredited).
I have worked in private practice for 4 years now.
Before retraining, I spent ten years as an NHS physiotherapy assistant, so I’m comfortable working alongside people at difficult points in their lives. I’m a mum to two children myself, so I know first-hand how big that transition is.
I hold a DipHE in Person Centred Counselling and spent 4 years training at Anglia Ruskin University.

Additional information
Individual sessions are £70. I know money can be tight, especially when you’re on maternity leave, working part-time, or managing a family budget, so I offer a limited amount of reduced-rate sessions. These are at £60 for people on a low income, students, and others who’d otherwise struggle to access support. Just get in touch and tell me what works for you. It’s a no-judgement conversation, and you don’t need to justify yourself.
