About me
Hello and welcome to my profile! My name is Abi, I am a qualified Gestalt counsellor based in Eastleigh. I offer a safe and inclusive space for you to explore and work through any challenges you may be facing.
Whether you are looking for a therapist for a specific issue, or you’re simply looking to safely process experiences in your past or present, I hope to be able to provide this for you. Finding the right therapist can be daunting, so please take your time looking through my profile and don’t hesitate to contact me or visit my website if you have any questions.
My approach to counselling puts you in the driving seat, as you are the person who knows you the best. My aim is to provide both support and challenge to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your experiences and your view of the world. As a Gestalt therapist, I also use creative ways of working to enhance your therapeutic experience, such as visualisation and object work. However, this is not a compulsory part of working with me.
I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework and Professional Standards in my work.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a DipHE Gestalt Counselling and have worked with a range of clients with complex and diverse issues. I have particular experience with young people, neurodiversity, grief and family dynamics. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in education for 7 years supporting students at a sixth form college both academically and pastorally. It was my experiences through this time that inspired me to do the work I do today.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
