Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychotherapist, UKCP, MSc, MA

About me

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist specialising in working with teenagers and young adults struggling with change. Perhaps you are finding the transition to university, sixth form, college, or secondary school challenging. Or maybe you are questioning your gender, sexuality, religious or cultural identity. You might be a parent who is reading this because your child is having a hard time and you aren't sure where to turn. Change and uncertainty can be terrifying, but having the right support can help you cope, or even thrive.

I was inspired to become a Psychotherapist after my own experience of therapy as a teenager and young adult. I know firsthand that having support through this challenging time can be life changing. My aim is to equip children, teenagers and young adults with the skills and self-belief to help them thrive now and in the future.

How I Work

I use an integrative approach, meaning that I combine talking therapy with creative techniques and mindfulness. I find that creativity can unlock thoughts and feelings that are difficult to put into words. Taking a moment to breathe and get back in touch with our body in moments of distress can help us learn to regulate our emotions. With younger children, play is at the centre of the work.

I often hear from the young people I work with that what they value about our sessions is feeling truly heard. Young adults and parents typically report feeling less stressed or anxious after coming to therapy. Having the space to identify and understand our triggers can help us to break unhelpful patterns in our lives.

Who I Work With

With 8+ years of experience working in state, independent, international, and boarding schools, I am experienced in supporting young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. I warmly welcome enquiries for children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. I have a particular interest and expertise in working with adolescents (11+) and young adults (up to 25).

I moved from the US to the UK as a teenager, so I understand what it’s like to adapt to a new culture. I am experienced in working with expat communities and young people growing up with 'third culture' identities. Sometimes having a sense of belonging in two (or more) different places can mean we feel we belong to neither. I strongly believe that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. This is why I specifically chose to train as an Integrative Psychotherapist - giving me the flexibility to tailor my approach to each person's unique needs.

Some of the areas I support include:

  • Anxiety
  • ADHD
  • Low self-esteem
  • Panic attacks
  • Depression or low mood
  • Acute or developmental trauma
  • Stress and academic pressure
  • Perfectionism
  • Emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA)
  • Friendship, family, or relationship difficulties
  • Parental separation or divorce
  • Difficulties with eating, sleeping, or self-care
  • Identity exploration (gender, sexuality, culture)
  • Grief, loss, and bereavement
  • Inner child work

I also welcome enquiries from Trainee Child and Adolescent Counsellors and Psychotherapists seeking personal therapy.

A Culturally Sensitive, Inclusive Approach

Unfortunately we live in a world that weaponises difference. In my practice, I recognise that every individual’s experience is shaped by their identity - whether that’s race, culture, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ identity, or family background. I offer culturally sensitive, LGBTQ+ affirming therapy and work with an awareness of intersectionality.

Parents & Carers: You’re Part of the Journey

While individual sessions are confidential, I work systemically, which means I collaborate with parents and carers of children and adolescents under 16. My stance is that parents are the experts on their own children, but together we will think about how to support your child’s emotional wellbeing at home. Outside of my private practice, I work as a psychotherapist in schools. This gives me an in-depth understanding of the school system and, where appropriate, I liaise with school staff to ensure consistent, joined-up support around a young person.

I also offer Reflective Parenting sessions: dedicated space for you to pause, reflect, and respond with greater curiosity and compassion. These sessions can help shift patterns of conflict and strengthen your relationship with your child.

Get in touch

I offer a 30 minute initial consultation free of charge. This gives us a chance to discuss what you are needing to support with and to decide whether working together feels right.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
