About me
PLEASE NOTE: I am re-opening my Cookham practice at the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Moor Hall. Cookham SL6 9QH on Friday 15th November 2024
I will also continue to offer counselling services via Teams or Zoom.
Affiliated to most of the major UK insurance companies such as Bupa and AXA PPP
I offer open-ended and short-term counselling within a wide range of issues:
Couples Counselling, Confidence Issues, Panic and Anxiety Attacks, Work stress and Depression, PTSD (with a diagnosis in place), as well as Coaching. See further on in my profile for additional issues.
EMDR Advanced Practitioner
I also offer onsite work place Mediation and Stress Management Consultancy.
As a first responder to most UK EAP's I also offer on-site and on-line critical incident post-trauma stress management. Sometimes referred to as Psychological First Aid.
Fully trained, accredited, and with extensive experience in working with PTSD both in my private practice and as a registered provider for most of the major UK Insurance Companies and EAP's (Employee Assistance Programme). I am also an PFOA approved counsellor.
I also provide therapeutic services, including counselling and trauma management (Critical Incident Response), for major Employee Assistance Providers, Human Resource Departments and Private Health Care Companies in the UK and overseas, and am a registered provider for most of the major UK Insurance Companies and EAP's
My counselling orientation is Eclecticism. This approach gives both myself and my clients the freedom and the flexibility to work within a wide range of counselling approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In other words, the client does not have to fit into an already prescribed model. The model is instead individually fitted to the needs of each client. My style is warm, though pragmatic, and feedback from clients would seem to indicate that I am easy to talk to. I believe it is necessary to be able to demonstrate understanding and respect for the client's 'story' before a client can feel sufficiently confident and supported to move forward within the work.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
The range of issues with which I work include Couples/Relationship Issues, Panic/Anxiety Attacks, Depression, Stress and Work Issues/Fear of flying/Fear of travel on trains and tubes. PTSD.
I have over 30 years experience in the corporate world and understand the pressures, office politics and the many challenges in that environment. I also provide training to organisations around stress, change management, mental health issues and resilience.
Responses to Organisations include:
Extensive experience of staff development, working with a variety of corporate organisations across a broad range of market sectors. The work includes Performance Coaching to clients from Blue Chip organisations, Back to Work Assessments and Reports to Organisations.
Conflict Mediation and Post-Trauma On-Site Support.
In addition I offer regular on-site drop-in sessions to organisations. The provision of on-site drop-in sessions to staff is an increasing wellbeing benefit being offered by forward thinking organisations and appears to be highly valued by both staff and the companies that offer it especially because of its immediate accessibility.
I offer one free course of counselling to ex-army veterans. Qualified in EMDR and Post-trauma work and with extensive experience of working with PTSD and anxiety related presentations, both for Insurance companies, EAPs and privately, veterans may contact me for an assessment and discussion on the 'way forward'. The work is open-ended which means I will work with that person for as long as is necessary.
