About me
I am a Humanistic and Attachment Based therapist and Supervisor and have been working with individuals for over 20 years. My motivation is to provide a relationship whereby you can safely explore your inner world, gain a better understanding of yourself and your relationships and become empowered to live a full and authentic life. I try to see the world through your eyes and perspective and place a strong emphasis on being client led. In other words, I am guided by you regarding the issues you want to explore and the pace of our work together. My aim is to help provide a safe environment to facilitate this and assist you to find clarity on the issues that arise.
I am aware that sharing your problems can feel quite daunting, particularly if its the first time, and I believe a good working relationship between counsellor and client is essential. My hope is that you will experience me as being genuine, sincere and accepting, and our first meeting will be an opportunity for us both to see how we relate to each other. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation, as an opportunity to discuss if working together will best suit your needs. Thereafter, we would arrange to meet on a weekly basis, for 50 mins, at a time that is mutually convenient. I work in an open ended way, with no time limitations, or for an agreed time period if preferred.
As a Supervisor I work relationally with the Seven Eyed model to support exploration of core beliefs about ourselves, our work and relationships. Research has shown that meaningful work is a major contribution to a person’s well-being and I believe that Supervision can contribute to this, across professions. This reflective practice can enhance self-awareness and challenge how we think, not only about work but also how we live.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BA(Hons) Degree in Person Centred Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Attachment Theory. I believe that working with attachment issues can develop an understanding of how early relationships can influence the way we relate throughout our lives. I have a Certificate in Supervision from my training with the Centre for Supervision and Team Development. I also hold certificates in Group Work, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction(MBSR) and am a trained 'Egan' Counsellor for crisis intervention work. I have many years experience of work place and crises counselling through my work as Clinical Supervisor, within a counselling service for an international airline. I also have experience of designing and facilitating psycho educational workshops on a variety of subjects for organisations.
As a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, I work within their Ethical Framework of Good Practice. In adherence to these guidelines and to ensure I am working professionally, I undergo regular supervision of my work.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.
In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
