About me

I am a Humanistic and Attachment Based therapist and have been working with individuals both privately and in a corporate setting for over 20 years. My motivation is to provide a relationship whereby you can safely explore your inner world and become empowered to live a full and authentic life. I try to see the world through your eyes and perspective and place a strong emphasis on being client led. In other words, I am guided by you regarding the issues you want to explore and the pace of our work together. My aim is to help provide a safe environment to facilitate this and assist you to find clarity on the issues that arise.

I am aware that sharing your problems can feel quite daunting, particularly if its the first time, and I believe a good working relationship between counsellor and client is essential. My hope is that you will experience me as being genuine, sincere and accepting, and our first meeting will be an opportunity for us both to see how we relate to each other. I work in an open ended way, with no time limitations, or for an agreed time period if preferred.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BA(Hons) Degree in Person Centred Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Attachment Theory.  I believe that working with attachment issues can develop an understanding of how early relationships can influence the way we relate throughout our lives.  I also hold certificates in Group Work, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction(MBSR) and am a trained 'Egan' Counsellor for crisis intervention work. I have many years experience of work place and crises counselling through my ongoing work, as Clinical Supervisor, within a counselling service for an international airline. I also design and facilitate courses in Counselling Skills, Empathy and Emotional Resilience, at a corporate or more individual level.

As a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, I work within their Ethical Framework of Good Practice. In adherence to these guidelines and to ensure I am working professionally, I undergo regular supervision of my work.

Areas of counselling I work with include....

  • Anxiety
  • Anger

  • Bullying
  • Depression

  • Low Self Esteem

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
