About me

--- WELCOME TO MY PROFILE ........I believe............A "problem" is an opportunity for change---What we believe we can achieve --- We can make new choices until we find what does work --- (Sue Knight)

What I love most about engaging in this work is that I have witnessed courageous people making positive changes and I have seen healing taking place emotionally, physically and spiritually. .

Whether you are an individual or couple, I invite you to look at what I can offer you and warmly invite you to call me on 07747 742258 or send me an email if you believe I may be able to help you. Due to Covid19 restrictions I am able to offer you zoom, telephone or face to face sessions (Covid Guidelines have to be agreed prior to convening sessions in person). Please see details of my fees and availability at the end of this profile. I am also offering reduced fees to all NHS workers

I qualified as an integrative humanistic Counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling in 2001  I am Accredited with the BACP and registered with the UKRCP.  I also hold a certificate in Psychosynthesis Transpersonal Supervision and a certificate in Pastoral Supervision with APSE. I have completed many hours of further training in different models of therapeutic work which have enhanced my knowledge and experience.

I provide a warm, confidential and calming atmosphere in which you can share your problems and you do not have to commit yourself to a set number of weeks so it is entirely up to you how much counselling you think you might need.

I have experienced therapy personally and I know how anxious I was on attending my first appointment many years ago because I didn’t know what to expect.  I soon settled in, and it was the best thing I have ever done, as it enabled me to change some aspects of my life and relationships that I hadn't thought possible.

Counselling is often described as 'talking therapy' but if you experience just talking as difficult, then I can offer you other ways to work through your issues such as using imagery, visualisation or creative tools.  I can also teach you how to listen to your body by using helpful relaxation techniques.  All these can be extremely effective in the recovery and healing process.

To gain a clearer perspective on how to understand and manage your problems in a new and helpful way

To help you find tools and strategies,  to manage your thoughts and feelings more effectively.

To see you potential, then grow into it and achieve your goals.

Confidential Individual Counselling:

Allowing yourself 50 minutes each week just for you, to gather your thoughts and feelings around the issue that you bring, without any other interruptions is so important.

Confidential Couples/Relationship Counselling:

The therapy I offer can enable you to look more deeply into your inner lives and from there, bring new understanding relating to thoughts and feelings towards each other. Through this, it is possible to enhance and heal a relationships breakdown.  Whatever stage you are at, whether needing a little maintenance or to decide if you can stay together after all, it is a privilege to enable and support wherever I can.

I am a Registered Adoption Focussed Counsellor and undertake adoption support work through Barnardos where I have received specialist OFSTED approved training in Attachment Focussed Therapy.  I am qualified to help you with any issues in relation to this, whether you are a birth mother or father, adoptee, adopter or close family member needing support.

Disordered Eating

I run a Six-Session Psycho-educational (Adult Only) course which helps participants to discover what lies behind their disordered eating habits and gives new insight and understanding on how they can learn new and effective ways to manage their comfort eating by establishing a healthy relationship with themselves. Participants are required to complete homework between sessions in the workbook provided. The cost is £315 per person

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
