About me
Hello and welcome to my profile.
I believe counselling is opportunity to think about your problems together, to make sense of what is happening with an aim for personal growth.
I am a very experienced senior practitioner with over 19 years clinical experience and my training was for 7 years in London at WPF.
Choosing a therapist is very personal and can feel rather daunting. I think it is important to meet for a consultation, it’s an opportunity to think together about what is best for you.
If you are anxious, panicky or feeling depressed or overwhelmed I confidently know counselling can and will help.
I offer on going weekly therapy (50 minutes) and short-term focused work to deal with a specific problem (12 sessions).
What is Psychodynamic psychotherapy? Well its a way of working which helps you understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your past experiences. This can help you understand what you're feeling now, why you behave in a certain way and how this affects your relationships. I also work in an integrative way, offering various ways to think about your problems not just how you’re shaped in childhood.
I am a registered EMDR practitioner and if it seems appropriate for you, this way of working is blended with my therapy work. I would highly recommend that EMDR is on going commitment rather than 12 sessions.
For information I am only able to offer day time sessions.
I work both on line (using Zoom or WhatsApp video ) and in person.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at WPF in Kensington London/London Bridge for 7 years. WPF was one of the highest regarded organisations in London. I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (Licensed in twice weekly work).
I hold a Diploma, PG Diploma and an Advanced Post Grad Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, (7 years training).
Courses of well over 30 hours I have passed and gained certificates :
Eating Disorders (Tavistock&Portman, London)
Cert CBT techniques, Counselling Foundation St Albans
PG Diploma in Supervising counsellors and psychotherapists. Gerrards Cross.
I am a trained EMDR and a registered practitioner I trained with Michael Patterson OBE and I continue to undertake regular CPD and supervision.
I hold a Masters degree in Education ~ I worked as a lecturer in FE and was a HOD/teacher in Secondary education for a long time.
I work within a strict code of professional and ethical conduct, I am a registered member of the BPC/UKCP and FPC. All conversations are confidential and discretion guaranteed. I work to the Ethical Framework for good practice.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

If we are unable to meet face to face, please do consider on line using Zoom. It has been a very effective media during lockdown.
