About me
Hello, I am an experienced psychotherapist offering both time limited (focussing on a particular issue) and long term work in a supportive, compassionate and confidential space.
As an integrative therapist, I consider the whole person, mind, body and emotions, working with you to integrate and balance these elements of yourself which can become out of kilter. I draw on many different psychotherapeutic approaches and ideas, including: psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor psychotherapy for trauma, and self-compassion.
My private practice is in the beautiful village of Batheaston, just outside Bath. Easily accessible by bus and with plenty of free parking.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. I gained an Advanced Diploma and Masters degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, following a five year professional UKCP accredited training at the Minster Centre. I have undertaken over fifteen years on my own personal development which I consider to be a fundamental aspect of my work. I am also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma, Internal Family Systems and Mindful Self-Compassion. I also hold a Diploma in Supervision from the Gestalt Centre in Brisbane, Australia.
I have over 15 years experience in private practice, initially in the east end of London, where I also worked as a counsellor for the London Ambulance Service, a counsellor and clinical assessor for City and Hackney Mind, in adult education, as well for Freedom from Torture and the Mapesbury Clinic for People in Exile. I then spent nine years in private practice in Brisbane, Australia, before returning to the UK at the end of 2023.
I have particular experience with trauma/PTSD, domestic abuse (including narcissistic abuse) and the family court system. I am accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
