About me
ABOUT ME
I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist working near Truro, Camborne, St. Ives and Penzance, Cornwall. I can offer Couple Counselling as well as one to one counselling and psychotherapy. My training was Integrative/Transpersonal which means I learnt all the different psychotherapy theories and approaches in my 5 year course. The advantage of this training is that I can tailor my work to suit each individual person and work in a way that suits each Individual best. I also work with couples, teenagers and families.
WHAT I CAN OFFER YOU
What I can offer you is a safe and confidential space to talk about what are often very painful issues and to listen to you with warmth and understanding with no judgement or criticism. My usual approach is to offer you an initial session whereby you outline what you feel the issues are you are struggling with. Depending on what those are, I will also be asking you about your childhood experience and life experience to date and how you feel that might be affecting the issues you are struggling with now. For example, someone who suffered an abusive childhood might find themselves repeating the pattern in their adult life and going from one abusive relationship to the next. Someone who was made to feel stupid or incompetent as a child might suffer from low-self esteem and not be able to connect to their talents and qualities and achieve what they want to in life. Often people find their relationships with loved ones, family members or at work colleagues difficult. Again we can look at the family dynamics and how that has affected your relationships in the present. Other people suffer from phobias or anxiety which again will have a base in the past or a base on a particular event or trauma. All these issues and more I can help you with either with the more traditional psychotherapy/counselling approach or in a way that I believe will suit you best. We can explore how to work with the issues together and create an approach that suits you.
I can also offer you a more solution based type of therapy and or Life Coaching which is a shorter course of therapy based on finding solutions to your current problems rather than delving into the past.
WHY PSYCHOTHERAPY AND COUNSELLING CAN HELP
Talking to someone professional who isn't a member of your family, friend or colleague about your problems or issues, who has no agenda or axe to grind, who is neutral, and will not bring their own opinions or feelings into the mix is a transforming experience. It frees you up to look at your issues, fears, things you feel ashamed about or hurt about without fear of judgement, criticism or someone telling you what to do. Counselling and Psychotherapy also enables you to be who you really are and to achieve more in life at work, at home and in your relationships.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
