About me

If you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or caught between feeling "too much" and "not enough", you're not alone.

Many people come to me feeling exhausted from trying to hold everything together. They might be putting everyone else's needs first, masking how they're really feeling, or carrying responsibilities that were never meant to be theirs. From the outside, they often look like they're coping. Inside, it can feel very different.

You may have spent years pushing your feelings aside so you can keep going, only to find that it's becoming harder and harder to do. Somewhere along the way, you may have become disconnected from your own feelings and needs, simply because coping had to come first.

Sometimes people arrive in therapy wondering why they feel the way they do. They tell themselves they should be coping better, overthink less, or find it easier to move on. Often, as we begin to explore things together, we discover that their struggles make sense in the context of what they've been through.

I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work, which helps me connect with people who feel deeply, think differently, or have spent much of their lives feeling misunderstood. Whether you're neurodivergent, highly sensitive, or simply feeling stuck, you're welcome here exactly as you are.

I offer a calm, supportive space where you don't have to pretend you're fine or carry everything on your own. We can slow things down, make sense of what's happening, and explore what you need.

Many of the people I work with are beginning to understand how growing up with emotionally immature or emotionally unavailable parents has shaped their confidence, relationships, boundaries, and sense of self. Others are living with the effects of emotional neglect, trauma, difficult family relationships, or addiction within the family.

People come to me for support with:

• Anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional exhaustion
• Low self-esteem and a harsh inner critic
• People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
• Masking, neurodivergence, or feeling "too much"
• Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected from yourself
• Trauma, emotional neglect, and difficult childhood experiences
• Relationship difficulties and attachment patterns

If you're finding things difficult right now, you're welcome to get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, trained at the Sherwood Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy (qualified 2025). I have over 25 years' experience within mental health services, including 15 years as a Mental Health Nurse and extensive experience within addiction services. Additional training includes Trauma Stabilisation, Cruse Bereavement and Loss, Working with Vicarious Trauma and Burnout, and Working Safely and Creatively with the Inner Child. My work is informed by a developmental understanding of how early experiences can shape self-esteem, relationships, boundaries, and emotional well-being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
