I have also completed an assessment to be placed on the BACP accredited Voluntary Counselling register no. 050666

Other interests;

I am the founder of a cost price service 'Bellis Daisy' in Taunton (find out more on my website).

Why did I became a counsellor?
Honestly, I became a counsellor somewhat by accident; after a varied career of being a barmaid, shop sales assistant, pre-school assistant among many jobs and volunteering in various roles for St John Ambulance I've always felt that everyone has the right to be heard no matter what their circumstances are or how their lives have turned out - so far!

I'd always wanted a career where I can interact with and help people on a daily basis with an idealisation of perhaps becoming a nurse or working within alternative medicines (homeopathy, reflexology, aromatherapy), but I chose to be a forces wife and so therefore put my career opportunities on hold for the luxury of living abroad and having my beautiful children.

After experiencing a few life events and relocating back to Somerset, I decided it was time to start on my career journey and by chance in 2008 with a last minute opportunity I started a counselling skills course - and very quickly realised that I felt really comfortable and could see a challenging yet happy career ahead of me - and I've loved every minute of my journey so far - not only because It's given me the time to take a good look at myself and iron out a few issues along the way and also to realise how therapy can be beneficial to not only large life changing trauma's but how by even looking at the smallest of niggles can have a big positive impact on your life and those around you. but ultimately because I've met so many wonderful people and been able to build relationships with them and have been privileged to see them grow from within.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
