Supervision details

Counselling supervision is a passion of mine, and I am delighted to offer a space to explore clinical client work for the benefit of the client. As an attachment-based psychodynamic counsellor, I have a keen interest in the relationships we build with clients and the unconscious dynamics that impact the work. Supervisees' feedback that I provide a warm and collaborative space to explore their work with clients and offer gentle challenge when appropriate. My core training places importance on the dynamics of transference & countertransference, so supervisees can expect exploration of this with their clients.

In my counselling practice, I work with adults (18+) and have significant experience working with young people (11-18) in a school setting, allowing me to offer a wealth of experience in these areas. I have significant experience of working with self-harm, risk, and child protection concerns.

As a queer individual, I have a personal interest in working with LGBTQ+ identities.

My stance as a supervisor places importance on the following core beliefs:

  • Safety as a foundation for development

In supervision, safety isn’t just about the absence of harm - it’s about creating an environment where supervisees feel secure enough to explore challenges, take risks, and develop professionally. A psychologically safe space allows for honest reflection, vulnerability, and learning without fear of judgment.

  • Respect for identity in clinical practice

Each supervisee brings their own experiences, values, and backgrounds into their work. Recognising and respecting identity ensures that diversity is not just acknowledged but actively affirmed.

  • Trust as the cornerstone of supervision

I approach supervision as a collaborative relationship where supervisees feel empowered, not micromanaged. I build trust by maintaining transparency, offering constructive feedback, and upholding ethical standards.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
