Supervision details
I am currently completing my Level 6 (CPCAB) Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision and am offering supervision in person in Knowle, Solihull or online to counsellors at a reduced rate of £40 for one and a half hours.
I am a BACP registered and accredited therapist. I have 8 years of experience of working with adults, children and young people presenting with a range of difficulties across private practice, charities, bereavement services, schools and specialist services supporting survivors of sexual abuse. I currently work as a counsellor with adults in a large psychology service and I have my own private practice.
I offer supervision to counsellors working with adults, children and young people. For counsellors working with children and young people, I bring my own experience of working as a counsellor in both primary and secondary schools. I also worked at Safeline for four years, a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse, where I worked with adults, children and teenagers.
My approach is integrative/person-centred and grounded in my person-centred way of being. My initial training was a 4 year degree in Person-centred counselling and the psychotherapeutic relationship, and this foundation continues to shape my thinking and way of working. My practice is also informed by polyvagal theory, compassion-focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, alongside creative approaches where helpful. I am a member of Creative Counsellors and enjoy exploring creative ways of working where appropriate.
I see my role as creating a warm, supportive and collaborative space where you can reflect openly on your work with your clients, and explore the experiences and challenges that may arise. My aim is to support you to continue to grow and develop as a counsellor. I bring curiosity and openness to supervision, with a focus on the client, the therapeutic relationship, the supervisory relationship, your experience and the wider context in which you are working. I use Michael Carroll's Seven Tasks Model of clinical supervision, whilst tailoring my approach to your individual needs and what you would like to gain from supervision.
If you have any questions or would like to explore whether my approach to supervision feels right for you, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'd be very happy to have an informal conversation about what you're looking for from supervision.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
