Supervision details

I am enthusiastic about supervision as this is a place where you as a therapist can be creative and imaginative.  I invite you to examine to your fears and your hopes without risk of harm or judgement.  As a supervisor it is a pleasure and a joy for me to see you develop and grow in confidence and competence.   You and your clients are at the centre of my work as a supervisor and I like to see you leave the session much more confident, informed, encouraged and skilled than when you came in.

Together we can awaken our awareness into what is happening for you and your client and we can explore as far and wide and as deep as we want to enable you to make choices.  I will encourage you to work in your own way at your own pace in and take your own direction.

In professional ‘supervision’ I am that other person with an ‘overview’ of your work with your client. I may at times be the guide you can follow, or I can offer you a different perspective like someone who travels alongside you on your journey who can take time to look though another window and point out the vistas and sights that you have missed.  I may be able to help you remove obstacles or to point out bumps along the road.  I can stand in front of you and hold a mirror for you to see yourself and from where you have come. I can share my insight where you have fallen blind, and I can support you along the rockiest of paths until you arrive at your desired destination.

I am a member of the BACP and work within their code of ethics.  At all times I will have you and your client upmost in mind and will support you to be the best therapist that you can be.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
