Supervision details

I'm Janet Liberato, an Accredited Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and Member of BACP with 10 years' experience as an integrative/pluralistic counsellor and psychotherapist.  I draw on Person Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic, Strengths Based, Compassion Focussed approaches from both a trauma informed and neuro-affirming foundation.

My supervisory practice is integrative, drawing on Hawkins & Shohet's Seven-Eyed Process Model, Proctor & Inskipp's Functions Model, and the FORUM/CARER frameworks for online working.  I can flex my approach to what you need each session,  whether that's the client work itself, the therapeutic relationship, parallel process, or your own use of self as a practitioner.

I see supervision as a collaborative, non-judgemental relationship built on trust, transparency and mutual respect. Alongside the normative, formative and restorative functions of supervision, I pay close attention to the working alliance itself, drawing on models such as Heron's Six Categories of Intervention and current thinking on power, difference and equality within the supervisory relationship. I'm committed to EDI-informed practice and to creating a space where you can bring the whole of your practice, including uncertainty, mistakes and challenge, without fear of judgement.

Ethical practice sits at the heart of my work. I use structured, reflective approaches to ethical decision-making, alongside reflective practice cycles (Kolb, Gibbs, Rolfe) to support ongoing learning.

I provide a supportive, collaborative space to reflect on your practice, explore your clinical work. My approach is thoughtful, respectful and tailored to your individual needs and stage of practice.

NCPS

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
