Supervision details

Hi, my name is Louise.   I can provide supervision in a safe, non judgemental space whereby you can grow and develop your practice.

Valuable supervision requires you to feel comfortable and supported so that you feel you can share and explore whatever you would like to.  We can work together so that clients needs are at the centre of our practice and we can make a positive difference to their well-being.

I will compassionately support you so that you can support your clients. I take an integrative, holistic approach, with additional training which equips me to work Online/via Telephone.  The foundation of my training was Person Centred and then I completed a Diploma in Adlerian Counselling and Psychotherapy.  This creative approach enables me to work with dreams; family of origin and early memories.  If you would like to, we can explore these aspects together, so that we can get a good understanding of 'who the client is'.  Furthermore, additional CBT training has been useful when working with clients and I am also able to bring some of these strategies into my Supervisory practice.

Personal counselling experience includes working in private practice alongside clients who are experiencing anxiety; depression; stress; loss/bereavement; chronic pain; family/relationship issues; domestic violence; infertility; perinatal issues and how trauma affects the body.

I have also worked as a Therapist in a State Secondary School and a Private School, so I have an understanding of risk and safeguarding issues when working with teenagers.

Additional Counselling training includes working with the Oxford Infant-Parent Perinatal Team (supporting clients antenatally and within the first year of having their baby).

Prior to this, previous professional roles include being a Family Planning Nurse; Midwife and Health Visitor (within the NHS).  Therefore, I have experience of struggling to conceive; birth trauma and difficulties within the antenatal/postnatal period (including changes in family dynamics).

Alongside providing talking therapy and supervision, I also work as a Reflexologist.  Therefore, I can recognise the relationship between the mind and body and observed how one impacts the other (which can be a useful means of exploring the client holistically within the Supervision session).

If you think we may be a good fit, please feel free to email me (contact@louisemastersontherapy.co.uk) or look at my general Counselling/Psychotherapy profile on the BACP Directory of Therapists or the Counselling Directory (listed as Louise Masterson).

You are welcome to have an initial telephone chat/zoom call if you would prefer or you can go ahead and arrange a full supervision session (1.5 hours per month or we can split it between 2 x 45 minute sessions).  The fee is £75 for that time frame or I can offer students a reduced rate (£60).

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions and I would be happy to send some information through to you regarding how I work.

Thank you for your interest in starting supervision sessions with me, warm wishes, Louise.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
