Supervision details
I enjoy supporting supervisees to process their work with clients and to shape their careers in ways that they find fulfilling. Working alongside supervisees to explore the therapeutic work they offer and undestanding more about the intersubjective experience between them and their clients helps make sense of the work and support practitioners I work with to provide useful relationships to their clients.
Providing therapy is important and deep work and it is important that practitioners feel resourced and supported to do the work that they do. A supervsior is an important part of the scaffolding we all need as practitioners and I really value being able to offer part of that package of support to my supervisees.
I work with a broad range of supervisees from people undertaking core training, people starting to develop their practice and experienced practitioners either working in NHS services or with flourishing private practices.
I am a Humanistic and Integrative practitioner with knowledge of a range of ways of working, including creative methods, gestalt therapy, psychodynamic theory, trauma therapy, transactional analysis and person centred therapy.
I spent ten years working as a part of a UKCP training organisation so have extensive supervision experience as that was a core part of my role as a tutor and supervisor.
I have previously worked in an outdoor setting so am happy to supervise people working outdoors or interested in setting up an outdoor practice.I also use a number of creative methods in my own practice such as sand tray therapy, drawing and art making and guided imagery so would welcome practitioners who work in this way or who might want to develop their own creativity.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
