Supervision details
As part of my private practice I currently supervise counsellors/therapists on an individual basis, but am also looking to supervise groups too.
My expertise is in Children's (0-12), Young People's (13-17), and Young Adults (18-25) therapy, but I can supervise qualified therapists who are working with adults and couples.
In October 2024 I completed my Level 6 Counselling Supervision Certificate, with I obtained through Place2Be. As part of my training (April-October 2024) I supervised a mixture of trainee and fully qualified therapists.
***My qualification allows me to supervise trainees, but due to many colleges and universities wanting supervisors to be accredited, I may not meet the requirements at this time - however, in January 2025 I am going to begin my Accreditation with the BACP, which means I shall be able to supervise trainees through their college/university establishments once I have completed this - aiming for July 2025.***
My supervision approach is The Cyclical Model because this provides a gentle structure for sessions and keeps them focused on the client, but whilst allowing plentiful space for supervisees to bring what they need. This model is Integrative by design, which means counsellors/therapists using a range of therapeutic approaches and modalities can be positively supported by it. Also an inclusive model, it can support practitioners at varying stages of their development.
In my work with supervisees I support them through a use of Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive clinical thinking.
Although I am a new supervisor, I bring a wealth of experience and training that I wish to share with my supervisees so that they can learn, grow and develop. I am committed to the BACP Ethical Framework (2018) and the Supervision Competence Framework (2021). I have fortnightly supervision and engage in ongoing CPD.
I strive to offer my supervisees a safe, non-judgemental and contained space where they feel held, supported and able to grow as reflective and ethical practitioners. I aim to give my supervisees encouragement and remind them to validate themselves as counsellors/therapists by recognising their achievements with them in the supervisory space. Equally I will challenge my supervisees when necessary and guide them through the Ethical Framework if needed to protect them and/or their clients. In summary, the supervision that I provide hopes to equip supervisees with everything they need to enhance their theoretical knowledge, raise their self-awareness, and strengthen their practice.
I am currently providing supervision online via Microsoft Teams. I may also be able to provide in-person supervision via Home Visits if the distance between myself and my supervisees is not too far.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
