Supervision details

I am an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. My way of working is predominantly humanistic with psychodynamic insight.

My core training drew to a large extent on the attachment theory and intersubjectivity, placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of all work.

My special interest is the therapist's use of self, in particular, empathic attunement, and rupture and repair of the therapeutic alliance. In supervision, I'd be supporting you in understanding what is going on in your relationship with your client and how you can be in it to facilitate emotional change. My priority is to create a supervisory relationship that feels safe and enables you to explore difficult aspects of your practice.

I welcome supervisees from different theoretical orientations and will be respectful of your own way of working. I am familiar with a variety of theories and am open to using the therapeutic language applicable to your approach.

In addition, I can support your professional development in the following specific modalities:

  • PCE-CfD (Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression, used in the NHS IAPT service). I am certified in this approach and am currently working with NHS patients as a PCE-CfD practitioner
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy. I am an EFT-informed supervisor

I hold a Diploma in Supervision and supervise counsellors and psychotherapists who offer individual therapy to adults.

I have worked both in organisational settings, such as NHS, voluntary sector, higher education, and in private practice, offering brief and long-term therapy, from a 4-session model to up to two years. I have an understanding of the challenges and specific conditions of each of those settings.

I am an approved supervisor for the MA/PG Dip in Psychotherapy and Counselling programme at the University of Leeds.

I also work with public service interpreters who need supervision or debriefing after being exposed to emotionally triggering or traumatic situations through their work.

My Fees

Individual supervision: £60 per 60 minutes, £90.00 per 90 minutes
Group supervision: £40 per 90 minutes twice a month
Group size: up to four members

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
