Supervision details

I use a person-centred approach using the core conditions to foster a supervisory relationship of trust, respect, connection, and compassion supporting you to feel safe and heard.  I may at times dovetail other supervision models to provide focus and a reflective space to pinpoint practice issues and enhance the counselling process.  My aim is to help you to evaluate and have a balanced and realistic understanding and assessment of your practice and clinical skills, to grow as a practitioner.

I come from a place of therapeutic curiosity where I will welcome you to take the lead, collaborating with you to generate your own ideas with your approach, whatever stage you are at in your counselling journey.  I will always respect your autonomy and experience, however I will at times gently challenge you to give some non-judgemental feedback to support your work and the needs of your clients.

As your supervisor I will assist you to ensure your way of working feels right for you and develop your style and confidence as a counsellor.  My responsibility and duty as a supervisor is to support you to practice within your competency, and within the professional standards of your ethical framework to reduce risk to your clients. I am passionate about supporting you to keep well as a therapist which might include reflecting on internal processes to enable you to support the well-being of your clients and be an ethical practitioner.

I am really committed and curious about connecting to what’s happening with your client’s and your relationship with them, to help you both gain further insight. I love the energy that this brings in supervision. I always trust and respect that you know your client better than me.

I will check in with you regularly to review how we are working together and if anything needs to change so you are getting the service and support you need.

I am bringing 17 years of counselling experience to supervision.  This includes supporting young people between 12-25 in a sexual health clinic with issues such as confidence, relationships, pregnancy loss, self-esteem, and assertiveness. I have 20 years of experience of supporting young people across different roles.

I have supported women and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual abuse, rape and/or sexual assault within a social work team in a statutory service, for over a decade. I help them to build their lives again, making sense of what happened to them and to feel safe again.

I have been in private practice since May 2020 and would love to support you as a therapist in the steps you need to build up and manage your practice, which is often not a focus in our basic core training.  I would also be happy to offer a reflective space to support you with the accreditation process if this was something you were working towards.

Please contact me to arrange a 30-minute call to discuss your supervision needs, priorities, and learning style.  I look forward to talking with you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
