Supervision details
I am passionate about helping others to grow and know themselves better both personally and professionally. I have over 11 years’ experience as a counsellor. I specialise in working with complex trauma, abuse and dissociative disorders such as DID. I also have considerable experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, and ASD. I am psychodynamic trained and have a good understanding of other counselling models. I have worked in several settings which I can also draw on when we are working together.
In a supervisory relationship my focus is working collaboratively with you to explore what you bring to the session. It is a safe space to consider different perspectives for exploring issues which can bring insights, learning and growth impacting both you and your client. I can offer creative methods in supervision to explore therapeutic issues, using for example sand tray and small objects.
I have found Hawkins and Shohet’s seven-eyed model a useful and accessible model for exploring the therapeutic relationship and other influencing factors with the aim of facilitating both the supervisees and client’s capacity for change.
I am a COSCA trained supervisor currently only taking on qualified counsellors for supervision. I offer long and short-term supervision. Recognising that at times our existing supervisors may have sudden unplanned absence or extended leave of absence. I work both online and face to face in both Dunfermline and Dundee.
The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
