Supervision details

My own experiences of supervision have been so important and formative for me both as a therapist and as a person.   I now really enjoy providing supervision myself and sharing my enthusiasm for therapeutic work, and hope I can offer you something of what has felt so valuable to me over the course of my journey as a therapist.

For me, supervision should always be grounded in warmth and curiosity and take place within an atmosphere of trust, collaboration and non-judgement.  My aim is to create a safe, supportive and reflective space where you can bring your questions, anxieties, insights, mistakes and successes, and explore them all with honesty and confidence.

Whether you are newly qualified or experienced, my intention is to support you to deepen your understanding of the therapeutic process, to strengthen your therapeutic presence and to enable you to practice ethically and professionally.   Working as a therapist can be lonely at times, and supervision provides a place of connection where you can share your experiences and feel nourished, enriched and inspired.

My approach

I work with trainees and qualified therapists, and am happy to supervise across many different modalities, having trained integratively and subsequently in numerous approaches.  In my own therapeutic work I now mainly focus on Internal Family Systems (IFS), so supervisees interested in IFS-informed supervision are especially welcome.

Practicalities

Please get in touch to arrange an initial consultation - 30 minutes, no charge - to see if I feel like the right kind of supervisor for you.  Sessions can be in person (in Wivenhoe, Essex) or online.  Standard fees for supervision are £70 per hour.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
