Supervision details

My approach to supervision is rooted in the Hawkins and Shohet 7-Eyed Model, which allows us to explore the therapeutic process from multiple perspectives, ensuring a rich, holistic understanding of your client work.

My main aim is to work collaboratively with you to create a safe and trusting working alliance. One which encourages honesty and genuineness, offers challenge in a supportive way and helps you to continue to grow as a therapist.

I take a relational approach to supervision, which is grounded in clear boundaries and ethical practice using the experience I have gained after many years combining my work as an Integrative therapist and counselling lecturer. I aim to offer compassionate support and appropriate guidance throughout our work together, working in a way which considers your stage of practice to help you get what you need to be able to work at your best with clients.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP, Accredited Professional Member of NCPS and have been in practice since 2015. I gained my Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Supervision from the Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy in 2023.

As a counselling lecturer at Stockport College teaching the SEG Level 4 Counselling Diploma, professional boundaries mean I am unable to work with current Stockport College counselling students.

I believe that supervision is far more than a professional box to tick and a good supervisory relationship is just as important as a therapeutic one. If you are considering working with me, please get in touch to arrange an initial telephone call so we can have a chat to help us both to decide if we would be a good fit.

Please note: I am only in practice Monday to Wednesday

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
