Supervision details

To be effective, supervision requires an authentic supervisee-supervisor relationship based on mutual trust, respect, warmth, genuineness, honesty, safety and collaboration.

My name is Denise Gregory. I am a fully qualified Relational Supervisor, based in Yate, South Gloucestershire. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Relational Supervision for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, from Severn Talking Therapy, with Advanced Specialist Training Recognition from the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am a fully qualified Integrative and Relational Counsellor, accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and bound to its ethical guidelines.

This means that I am offering you, qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists, a safe and confidential environment to discuss your therapeutic work. Together, we will explore all aspects of your practice, including your therapeutic relationship with your clients and its impact on you, your clients and your therapeutic work. This will allow us to understand the process that emerges during your therapy sessions with your clients. In addition, supervision will be the space to acknowledge your therapeutic work in addition to consolidating your learning and your professional development. I will help you to develop your autonomy and your agency as a therapist while supporting your formative, normative and restorative needs.

My approach is relational and integrative. With the person-centred approach at its core, it is further informed by Hawkins’ and Shohet’s Seven Eyed Model, Inskipp's and Proctor's Normative, Formative and Restorative Supervisory Functions and based on several years of experience working with a variety of issues. I work in private practice as well as in organisational settings, which means that I will be sensitive to the context of your therapeutic work.

I offer a free confidential initial consultation. This will allow us to decide if we are able to work together and to assess the approach that is the most appropriate to your needs and requirements, while allowing you to ask me any questions you may have. Supervision will be tailored to your unique needs.

My usual rate for supervision is £50/hour. I offer concessions for trainee counsellors/psychotherapists. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss this further. If you would like to contact me for further information, to book a free confidential initial consultation or for an informal chat, I would be happy to hear from you. Please leave me a message if I am unavailable and I will contact you as soon as possible.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
