Supervisor Sue Kelly
I am experienced in supervision of groups and individuals.
My approach is theoretically grounded in person-centred therapy and experiential focusing. I have supervised counsellors from various modalities including person-centred, psychodynamic, Gestalt and CBT.
For me, the point of supervision is to help ensure counselling that is satisfying and ethical for client and counsellor alike. I prioritise the counsellor's experience and needs as the most direct way of enabling a productive client-counsellor relationship. I aim to support counsellor development, learning and self-care within a safe, trusting, and (as far as possible) equal relationship. Personally I highly value authenticity, honesty, and intuition, which may come across in supervision as challenging, however I also have a deep faith that we are all doing the best we can in the circumstances. I like to see the big picture and simultaneously honour individual experiencing.
I enjoy using creative methods using, for example, drawing or soft toys, if that is something that you might find useful.
I prefer to meet supervisees at my home in North Kelvinside, 5 minutes from Kelvinbridge Underground, and to supervise face-to-face, though I will consider telephone supervision, and offer emergency telephone contact as standard. We may be joined by my elderly dog. I am available Monday to Friday between 9 am and 6 pm, and Saturday mornings. I charge £40 per hour. Contact me for a free exploratory meeting.
