Supervision details
Creating space for new insights and possibilities for you the Therapist and for your Clients to evolve are important. Weaving a number of different models of Supervision (see below), we can explore what goes on between you and your Clients with honesty and with great compassion. Celebrating breakthroughs and the learning they bring, as well as exploring inevitable difficulties, 'stuckness' or confusion that arise in your work are all welcome. This often begins to happen once you feel safe enough to offload, an important element in building the Supervisory relationship.
Models of Supervision that weave through my work are:
Hawkins and Shohet's 'Seven-eyed Model'
Michael Carroll's 'Tasks of Supervision Model' and
Page and Woskett's 'Cyclical Model'.
Recent CPD training with Robin Shohet and Joan Shohet (nee Wilmot) focuses particular awareness on the Transference and Countertransference phenomena.
In addition to "talking Supervision" - we might explore client material through:
- your visceral experience (physical symptoms) in your work
- the value of body movement
- the use of sound
- the exploration of dreams
- a creative visualisation process
These can be valuable tools to bypass the 'rational' to help you access a deeper understanding and to additionally enable your Clients to access their own deeper understanding of themselves; it can be particularly valuable when helping clients who have experienced Trauma.
I work intuitively and with very close attunement to the material you present – mindful of both your wellbeing and ultimately, of course, the wellbeing of your Clients. If you also work in this way, it may boost your confidence to work with someone with a similar style. Conversely, if you are aware of being "heady", primarily attracted to cognitive ways of working, you might find my style enriching, helping you to broaden your skills to access more information than previously.
My approach to Trauma work is informed by Peter Levine, Gabor Mate, Bessel van der Kolk and Carolyn Spring among others.
The Transpersonal lens is always present and always adds value.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
