Clinical & Training Supervisor

Cassandra Jay is an experienced Clinical and Training Supervisor, Psychosexual, Relationship and Forensic Psychotherapist, and the Founder and Clinical Director of The Caesura Centre. She provides supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, coaches, trainees and allied professionals working across a broad range of therapeutic settings.

With over 17 years of specialist clinical experience, Cassandra offers supervision that is supportive, collaborative and appropriately challenging, helping practitioners to develop clinical confidence, ethical decision-making and professional growth. Her supervisory style is integrative, reflective and clinically directive where required, drawing on psychodynamic, systemic, person-centred, Gestalt, Imago and relational approaches.

Cassandra has particular expertise in supervising practitioners working with psychosexual and relationship presentations, including sexual dysfunctions, intimacy difficulties, desire discrepancies, affair recovery, relationship conflict and communication difficulties. She is also highly experienced in supporting therapists working with clients involved in ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, relationship diversity, fetish and kink communities, ensuring affirming, non-pathologising and evidence-informed practice.

As an International Certified Psycho-sexologist (EFS & ESSM) and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Cassandra provides specialist supervision in the areas of problematic and compulsive sexual behaviour, pornography-related concerns, out-of-control sexual behaviours, betrayal trauma and partner impact work. She supports clinicians in navigating complex risk assessment, shame-based presentations, attachment dynamics and relapse prevention models.

Alongside her psychotherapy practice, Cassandra has extensive forensic experience and regularly works with individuals involved in criminal justice processes, including those convicted of sexual offences. She provides supervision relating to forensic psychotherapy, risk formulation, court-directed therapeutic work, report writing, professional report preparation, multi-agency collaboration and navigating legal and safeguarding frameworks. She also has significant experience liaising with solicitors, probation services, social services and court professionals.

Cassandra is passionate about supporting therapists who work with sexual and gender diversity and has extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ clients, relationship-diverse communities and individuals exploring identity, sexuality and relational dynamics.

Her supervision practice provides a confidential space for practitioners to explore clinical dilemmas, countertransference, ethical issues, risk management, professional identity, business development and self-care. She works with both qualified and trainee professionals and has experience supervising therapists in private practice, organisational settings, specialist services and multidisciplinary teams.

Cassandra is a COSRT Accredited Psychotherapist, Registered Member of the BACP, member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), International Institute for Trauma & Addiction Professionals (IITAP), International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy (IAFP), Association for Family Therapy (AFT), National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP) and OCD-UK.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
