Supervision details
I provide a free-of-charge initial consultation to prospective supervisees. I am experienced in helping students/counsellors to work towards successful completion of their counselling training and/or accreditation. I am an integrative counselling supervisor. I am experienced in providing supportive and respectful supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors/psychotherapists working with a range of models, including Psychodynamic, Humanistic, CBT, Integrative and Eclectic approaches. I am able to vary my approach to suit the needs of my supervisees, for example, utilising creative methods and considering processes such as transference, counter-transference and parallel process (Shohet & Hawkins: Seven-eyed model). I am experienced in report writing for submission to FE/HE institutions and professional body accreditation (ie BACP, ACC) and find that my background as FE/HE lecturer in counselling and psychology is often particularly useful in my supervision work. I am a qualified and experienced supervisor, having supervised counsellors, psychotherapists and other healthcare professionals since 2008. I am qualified to Master's level (MSc Counselling Psychology) and in Counselling and Psychotherapy Supervision. As an independent practitioner, I am able to provide full support to my supervisees, free from the direct influences of employing organisations and placement providers. I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework, helping my supervisees respond professionally and competently to ethical dilemmas and safeguarding issues, keeping themselves and their clients safe. I have participated in Supervision CPD on helping supervisees working with suicidal clients and am fully conversant with risk assessment and safety planning methods. My supervisees often inform me they have grown in confidence and assertiveness as a result of our supervisory process. I have specialist knowledge and experience of practice and supervision in the following areas: Relationship issues, Children and Young People, Depression and Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Weight/obesity issues, Student counselling, Work/career issues/Occupational Health

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
