Supervision details
My approach as a Clinical (Teaching) Supervisor reflects that of my approach to psychotherapy in that I work relationally / developmentally and from a trauma informed / inclusive perspective.
I aim to provide a safe space where supervisees feel able to bring both themselves and their client work so that this can be explored collaboratively. As a supervisor I see myself as offering an objective lens through which your work can be viewed and where I am removed enough from the therapeutic relationships with your clients that I am able to identify processes that may be occurring, enabling us to explore these together.
As you take yourself in to your clinical work with your clients I am interested to know what might be impacting you in the here & now and what, from your own history, might be getting caught and will always provide a space for this.
I have significant experience of working with trainee practitioners and also offer academic supervision. When working with trainees I see supervision as an integral part of your training framework and work to support you in integrating yourself, training, and theory in to practice.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
