Supervision details

Thankyou for visiting my supervisor profile. I know how challenging it can be to find a supervisor that 'fits' having done it a few times myself, so here is a bit about me and my practice that I hope will be helpful to you in your search.

I have been a counsellor for 24 years and have worked in a variety of organisational settings but am currently solely in private practice. I am an experienced supervisor of groups and individuals and have supervised both in counselling organisations and in private practice. I have worked with supervisee's from differing theoretical backgrounds including Integrative, Psychodynamic, person centred, TA and Gestalt. I am registered and accredited with the BACP as a counsellor and supervise qualified therapists only in private practice.

My approach to both my therapeutic work and my supervision practice is Integrative with a Psychodynamic base. My original diploma training was in Psychodynamic therapy and my degree training was in Integrative. So, with my roots in the Psychodynamic model, it might not surprise you to hear that it is important to me in the way I supervise to always consider and endeavour to understand what is being expressed unconsciously as well as consciously both in clinical work with clients and the supervisory relationship as well as reflecting on and exploring all other aspects of the therapeutic relationship.

What I believe is of vital importance in supervision and what I provide is a safe space where you can bring and think about all aspects of your client work, knowing that you will be supported and encouraged to grow as a therapist at whatever stage you are in your clinical practice.

My practice is in Tadley and my therapy room is tucked away in the corner of my garden away from the main house. It is a small room, quiet and private.  It is a single storey building giving easy access to anyone that may have mobility issues.  There is a designated parking space on the drive.

I offer supervision sessions both face-to-face and online (via zoom). I charge £60 for an hour's (60 mins) supervision session and £90 for an hour and a half (90 mins). I usually see supervisee's on a fortnightly basis.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
