Supervision details
I offer online clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists who are looking for a reflective, supportive and appropriately challenging supervisory relationship.
I am a BACP Senior Accredited psychotherapist with over 20 years’ clinical experience and hold a Certificate in Supervision from the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy. I also completed supervision training during my MSc and have experience providing both individual and group supervision.
My supervisory approach is integrative and relational, and is primarily informed by Hawkins and Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision. This allows us to explore not only the client and the interventions being used, but also the therapeutic relationship, the practitioner’s use of self, parallel process, ethical issues and the wider context in which the work takes place.
I see supervision as more than case management. It should provide a space where you can think openly about your work, explore uncertainty, recognise patterns, develop confidence and consider difficult clinical or ethical decisions without fear of judgement.
My aim is to offer enough support for honesty, enough challenge for professional growth and enough clinical depth to help protect both the practitioner and the client.
I have particular experience in attachment, developmental and complex trauma, emotional regulation, relational difficulties, shame, anxiety and working with complex presentations within the looked after child care system. I can also support practitioners who are developing their private practice, professional identity or confidence in working independently.
I work with qualified and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists and may also consider working with trainees, subject to the requirements and approval of their training provider and placement.
Supervision is offered online and can be arranged as 60- or 90-minute sessions depending on your needs and professional requirements.
Clinical supervision is charged at £75 for a 90-minute online session.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
