Supervisor

Supervision details

I offer warm, thoughtful and practical clinical supervision for therapists who want a space to think openly about their work, develop their confidence and continue growing as practitioners.

I see supervision as more than just reviewing a caseload. It should be a space where you can slow things down, make sense of what is happening in the therapy room and think honestly about the parts of the work that feel difficult, uncertain or stuck.

My background as a Practitioner Psychologist means that I tend to bring a strong psychological and formulation-based perspective to supervision. We might explore patterns within the therapeutic relationship, think about what may be maintaining a client’s difficulties, consider different ways of understanding a presentation, or look together at how to move the work forward.

I particularly enjoy helping therapists develop their clinical thinking. That might include thinking about formulation, attachment and relational patterns, trauma, risk, emotional regulation, therapeutic boundaries or how different psychological approaches could inform the work.

My style is collaborative rather than prescriptive. I won’t expect you to practise exactly as I do. I’m interested in helping you develop your own therapeutic identity and become increasingly confident in your judgement.

Supervision can also include the wider realities of being a therapist, including managing complex or emotionally demanding work, ethical dilemmas, boundaries, professional development and private practice.

Most importantly, I want supervision to feel like somewhere you can bring the things you are unsure about. You do not need to arrive with the answer. We can think it through together.

I aim for supervision to leave you feeling clearer, supported and with something useful to take back into your work.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
