Supervision details

In supervision, I prioritise the welfare of the counsellor's clients and the quality of the service they receive, whilst supporting the counsellor in their work. I am an integrative supervisor and follow Proctor's model of supervision, which is at times normative, formative and/or restorative. My supervisory style is based on a person-centred approach, and I offer accommodations to personal differences or needs. I welcome neurodivergent counsellors and am knowledgeable and experienced in this area. I also welcome counsellors from all cultures and consider myself to be culturally curious, having lived in ten countries across three continents.

The way I work will differ depending on the level and competencies of you the counsellor, and where you are in your counselling journey. With experienced counsellors, I use a collegiate approach, whilst with student counsellors, I offer more guidance and support. This follows the Integrative Developmental model of Supervision. I have extensive experience working online. and currently use the Zoom platform for counselling and supervision, which states it is GDPR compliant. Face-to-face supervision in Prestatyn, North Wales, is available on request and may require a surcharge for room hire.

I also offer one-off supervision sessions to counsellors who unexpectedly find their regular supervisor is not available.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
