Women's survivors group psycho-educational course
This is a 10-week psycho-educational topic-based course especially tailored for the needs of survivors and could be useful to women survivors who have experienced child sexual abuse. This course has been running for over 30 years in various forms! The course looks at a different topic each week, and there is also plenty of time for discussion and sharing experiences and feelings.
This is an intense course so group members do need to be in a place of mental health stability in order to attend the course with some support systems in place.
Topics include shame, anger, sexuality, boundaries, betrayal and healthy relationships.
Benefits of attending the course include:
- Meeting other survivors in a safe caring environment.
- Gaining information and empowerment from relevant topics for survivors.
- Receiving support from trained counsellors/facilitators.
- Opportunity of forming deep-lasting friendships.
Course venue: Seven sessions online via Zoom. Three sessions are in person, Ealing West London
Course dates: Wednesday 24th September to Wednesday 26th November.
Course time: 7.00 to 8.30 pm
Course fees: For women in London, fees are subsidised £20 (£5 per session).
Course assessment sessions: Via Zoom on 3rd or 10th September in the evening.
The group facilitators are all trained counsellors with experience of working with women survivors and all BACP ethics apply.
Past feedback includes:
“The course was pivotal in my journey of recovery from sexual abuse.”
“I felt like I was in my own prison due to the abuse I faced. I have done years of therapy but meeting people like myself has given me inner peace and a feeling of massive relief”
“I feel stronger, more hopeful, and better equipped to move forward with my life. This course was life-changing”
