TA101 introduction to transactional analysis
The TA101 is the internationally recognised introduction to Transactional Analysis (TA). Delivered face to face in Leeds, this two-day course offers a practical and engaging foundation in TA theory for counsellors, psychotherapists, coaches, and anyone interested in understanding communication, relationships, and human behaviour more deeply.
Whether you are exploring TA as part of your professional development, considering further training, or simply curious about how we relate to ourselves and others, the TA101 provides clear models, structured learning, and reflective space. It is both an accredited entry point into formal TA training and a rich standalone CPD experience.
At Northside, we teach TA in a way that is relational, practical and fun as well as grounded in real clinical work. Our small group size ensures dialogue, discussion, and space to integrate learning – not just absorb information.
Discover the theories of transactional analysis, a psychological model of personality and communication developed by Eric Berne for understanding how humans develop, behave, communicate and interact with each other. Once you understand how you behave in certain situations and why, you can then make your interactions with others more pleasant and effective.
We cover the answers to common psychological questions, such as:
- “Why do I act like my mum or dad? or “Why do I feel like a little kid again?” (Ego states)
- “Do I sense the car crash coming in this conversation?” (Psychological games)
- “Why do I keep on making the same mistakes?” (Life scripts)
- “What is going on in this conversation?” (Transactions)
Northside Training offers a range of training including counselling and psychotherapy and CBT. The training includes introductory level courses and CPD workshops for therapists and trainee therapists. Northside Training is based at The Horsforth Centre, Leeds.
