Introduction to emotion regulation
Suitable for anyone who is interested in understanding emotions and how to regulate them effectively. Whether you're the one needing help with emotional sensitivity or you're supporting a loved one who struggles to manage their emotions, this is a good starting place.
This workshop offers an introduction to emotion regulation from a DBT-informed perspective. It provides psychoeducation about emotions, including what they are, why they matter and how they can help us understand our well-being and unmet needs.
Participants will be introduced to the core emotions, their functions and ways to recognise and respond to them more effectively. The workshop will also explore common challenges with emotion regulation and introduce practical strategies to help support healthier emotional responses and meaningful change in everyday life.
This workshop includes the following resources, which will be emailed to you:
- emotion wheel
- identifying emotions record
- emotions, their purpose and associated behavioural urges
- check the facts (how to check where your emotions are coming from and if acting on them is effective)
