How to survive a break-up and find your spark again
Break-ups are hard! A relationship ending can affect far more than your emotions. It can alter your thoughts, sleep, concentration, sense of identity and even the way your body and nervous system respond to everyday life.
You may find yourself repeatedly analysing what happened, searching for answers, idealising your ex or fighting the urge to contact or check up on them, even when you know doing so may leave you feeling worse.
How to Survive a Break-up and Find Your Spark Again is a psychotherapist-led online workshop designed to help you understand what happens psychologically, emotionally and neurobiologically after a relationship ends and give you practical tools to begin moving forward.
Rather than simply telling you to “let go” or “move on”, we will explore why heartbreak can feel so consuming, what may be keeping the wound active and how you can support yourself through the recovery process with greater understanding and self-compassion.
During the workshop, we will explore:
- why heartbreak can feel like withdrawal and affect both the mind and body
- emotional, psychological and physiological impact of break-ups and loss
- why we can become trapped in rumination, hope and unanswered questions
- how to begin creating your own sense of closure
- ways to rebuild your identity, confidence and enjoyment of life
- how to reconnect with parts of yourself that may have become lost in the relationship
The session will include approximately 60 minutes of therapist-led psychoeducation and practical guidance, followed by a 20-minute moderated Q&A.
You will also receive a practical break-up recovery map to help you reflect on what you are grieving, recognise the patterns keeping you stuck and begin reconnecting with yourself. During the final part of the workshop, I will explain how to use it so that you leave with a clear and manageable starting point for moving forward.
This workshop is suitable whether your break-up is recent or you have been struggling to move forward for some time. You will not be asked to share personal details or speak in front of the group.
Please note that this is a psychoeducational workshop and not group therapy or a substitute for individual mental-health treatment.
