About me
Zita Cox MBACP Accred: BAhons,(Philosophy and Psychology) Dip Counselling; MSc (Counselling, Supervision and Training) DipH (General Hypnotherapy Register) EMDR Europe Accredited Practioner. Brainspotting Practitioner.
Systemic Constellations Facilitator.
I have space at the moment. Working online.
During this extraordinary time of coronavirus and self isolation many people experience anxiety and sadness and loneliness, this maybe all about the present but may also trigger past traumas.
i am now working online and by phone and have found it to work well - rather to my surprise as I have previously felt being face to face in a room was the most therapeutic.
Since this pandemic has led me to work online I have found counselling, EMDR and Brainspotting sessions can be very effective online. Maybe it helps to be in your own home and having this one to one conversation with the complete attention of the therapist without a need to travel.
Whatever the reasons online sessions can be very effective.
I have extensive experience of working with PTSD. Whether this is long term from childhood incidents or from recent events such as road accidents, or other personal injury, or experiences of conflict.
Including work with Emergence Services and Medical Staff.
Zita has 32 years experience of successfully helping and supporting people to transform their lives, to free themselves from the burden of past experience and to find the courage and support to identify the changes they want to make and to make them.
Zita has extensive experience as a Counsellor / Psychotherapist/ Hypnotherapist and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. Zita has worked successfully with clients with a wide range of issues for 32 years. Zita has worked continuously in both the NHS and Private Practice. Ten Years as Lead Psychotherapist in a busy GP Practice in London and 17 years as a Psychotherapist and supervisor in Hospitals in Gloucester and London working with a mix of Staff and patients. Zita's experience includes a particular interest in Trauma, including Perinatal trauma ( before during and after birth of child), and all areas relating to employment and careers.
Often trauma's such as bullying early in life effect our ability to progress in life and make supportive and satisfying relationships both in work and our personal life.
Engaging in counselling, coaching or therapy can lead us to a satisfying understanding of who we are and what we want from life and what we have to contribute.
Zita has also worked with patients with cancer and with death and dying.
Zita now also identifies as a Personal Consultant as her range of experience and skills whilst fundamentally those of a committed Counsellor and Psychotherapist have expand into complementary areas all of which are concerned with Personal Development.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
