I am passionate about supporting clients suffering from; work related issues, difficulties in their personal lives. I have been working with clients for over 10 years and I am passionate about enabling clients to find a positive way forward. I provide a warm, empathic and friendly approach, where clients feel comfortable talking about their difficulties. I provide both Short Term Integrative Counselling; where I predominately work with clients using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focussed Counselling. Further to this, I also work with clients on a longer term basis offering Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
Short Term Counselling is appropriate for specific difficulties enabling clients to cope better in their current day to day lives. Where as longer term Psychotherapy offers a more in-depth understanding of reoccurring issues that are often caused by trauma from the past; such as childhood sexual, emotional and physical abuse.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed a Masters in Psychoanalytic Theory at University College London, within the department of Psychology, which is the second best worldwide. Subsequent to this I completed my Clinical training to become a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation, Kensington, which is one of the leading trainings in this field. I have also trained in Mindfulness and the Training was based on Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of MBSR (mindfulness-based stress training). I currently work for the Employee Assistance programme where I have gained specialist training in Solution focussed Counselling and Mindfulness. My current role has given me an excellent understanding of how to work with clients on a short term basis in relation to mild to moderate anxiety and depression. It has also given me exposure to working with clients globally, from a wide range of business industries and with clients from all levels of the business. I have also trained in Cognitive behavioural therapy at the Westminster pastoral foundation and also Art therapy from the British Association of Art Therapy (BAAT). The training enabled me to gain an insight into how clients can often gain a deeper understanding of what is going on for them and make sense of their feelings and emotions. Art is also an excellent means of supporting a client to open up and articulate their thoughts.
I have worked with long term clients for just over ten years in both Kensington High Street and London Bridge. I have also worked for a number of charities; ChildLine, GMI Partnership and WPF therapy. I now work for the Employee Assistance Programme where I work with clients short term suffering work related issues and/or issues in their personal life. In addition to my current role, I have worked across the voluntary, private and NHS sector offering counselling and psychotherapy to a broad range of clients. I have also worked as an affiliate for BUPA; offering short term counselling to employees suffering from work related and personal issues. Lastly I have worked in private practice for over ten years.
