About me

I am an integrative relational psychotherapist, which means that I use a variety of approaches and methods to get the best possible understanding for your needs. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the principal factor in therapy, and I aim to create a warm, trusting and supportive environment for you to explore your issues and goals.

Also, as a person-centred therapist, I respect your autonomy and agency as a unique human being. I do not impose my views or solutions on you, but I help you to find your own inner resources and wisdom. I listen to you with empathy and curiosity, and I offer you feedback and guidance when needed.

I came to counselling later in life, after running my own successful business in the hospitality and events industry.  I have a lot of experience in dealing with different people and situations, and I understand the pressures and challenges of working in a demanding and competitive field. I have personal experience of complex family dynamics and the impact that those relationships; and relationships with others can have on sense of identity and self-worth.

I believe my experience in helping clients deal with issues and trauma relating to HIV and AIDS has moulded me as a therapist and rather than limiting me, has given me the tools and empathy to connect with any client no matter what their issues may be.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an integrative relational counsellor and psychotherapist with a Foundation Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Greenwich. I have a holistic approach to counselling, integrating different theoretical perspectives and techniques to suit the individual needs of each client. I tend to be person-centred, meaning that I value the client’s autonomy, uniqueness, and potential.

I have experience in using various therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, humanistic, and existential. I aim to create a trusting and supportive relationship with my clients, where they can feel heard, understood, and accepted.

I am currently a volunteer counsellor at Positive East, a HIV/AIDS charity in East London that provides support and services to people living with HIV. I offer one-to-one counselling sessions to clients who are facing difficulties related to their diagnosis, treatment, stigma, disclosure, relationships, mental health, and well-being. I also facilitate group workshops on topics such as coping skills, self-care, resilience, and positive living.

In addition, I am also a Samaritans listening volunteer, providing emotional support to anyone who is feeling suicidal, depressed, lonely, or distressed. I listen attentively and non-judgmentally to callers who contact the helpline, offering them a safe and confidential space to express their feelings and thoughts. I also help them explore their options and find their own solutions.

Through my work as a counsellor and a listener, I have developed strong skills in communication, rapport-building, empathy, compassion and problem-solving. I am committed to continuous professional development and ethical practice. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of conduct.

I am looking forward to working with you and supporting you on your journey of growth and healing. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to book an appointment. Thank you for visiting my profile.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I am a person-centred integrative relational therapist, which means that I value you as a unique and autonomous individual, and I use different approaches and techniques to suit your needs and preferences. I understand that sometimes you may not even know what is troubling you, or you may feel overwhelmed by your emotions and thoughts. That is why I offer a non-judgmental and safe space where we can explore together what you would like to achieve with therapy. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or any other challenge, I am here to listen to you and support you. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, where we can build a trusting and respectful relationship that will help you discover your inner resources and potential. My goal is to help you find your own solutions, enhance your well-being, and live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
