About me
People come to me from different places in their lives, some understand their difficulties well but still repeat the same patterns; others can't make sense of what's happening to them at all. What they share is being tired: of anxiety, of overwhelm, of feeling permanently on guard, and of quietly wondering if anything can actually change.
My belief that change is possible comes from both training and my own life. I came to this work through my own mental health difficulties, and the support I received changed the course of my life. It shaped how I practise: acceptance, compassion, presence, curiosity, and intention. Change often comes not just from talking or thinking, but from working with the nervous system that's been holding all of your emotions, your experiences, and your survival instincts.
I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor and HCPC-registered occupational therapist, and my work brings the two together: counselling and psychotherapy alongside gentle, body-based, nervous-system-focused approaches. Where helpful, and only by agreement, I may weave in clinical hypnotherapy. There's no fixed formula, we shape the work around you.
A number of the people I work with are autistic or ADHD, or recognise that description in themselves without ever having sought a diagnosis. If environments overwhelm you in ways that are hard to justify to others, if you're exhausted in a way rest doesn't fix, or if you only notice what you're feeling once it's severe, that isn't a character flaw — it's what a nervous system does when it's taking in more, or less, than it can comfortably process. My occupational therapy background means I can work with sensory processing and regulation directly, rather than only with what you think and feel about it. You don't need a diagnosis, and you don't need language for it yet.
You don't need to be at breaking point to start. People put this off for years, waiting until it's bad enough to justify seeking support, or because from the outside they appear to be doing fine. Getting by takes more out of you than you realise.
If you've been coping alone for a long time, reaching out might feel like a lot. It doesn't need to be. There's nothing to prepare and nothing you have to get right, a free 30-minute call is simply a chance to talk, ask anything you like, and get a feel for whether I'm the right person to walk alongside you for a while.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, covering person-centred, psychodynamic and integrative approaches, and I'm an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.).
Alongside this, I'm an HCPC-registered occupational therapist (BSc Hons, First Class, Ulster University) with ten years' clinical experience across mental health settings. This dual background is the foundation of how I work: talking therapy informed by a deep understanding of the nervous system, sensory processing and the body's role in emotional life.
Additional training includes Sensory Attachment Intervention for Adults & Adolescents, which qualifies me to carry out the Just Right State Programme with adults and adolescents and attachment-based practice with adults. Also trained in clinical hypnotherapy (Hypnotherapy Society registrant). I'm fully insured and work within HCPC & NCPS ethical guidelines, with regular supervision.
