About me
I practice Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, a psychoanalytically informed, comprehensive, and integrative approach. Rather than simply addressing surface-level symptoms, we will explore the unconscious processes and early experiences that shape your current emotional and relational life. Instead of prescribing advice, I can help you discover your own answers.
About me
I’m Valia Charalampidou (she/her), a British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) accredited Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, offering a confidential and supportive space for self-exploration and growth.
I provide in-person, online and telephone sessions.
My office is located just a three-minute walk from Chancery Lane underground station, off a secluded private courtyard, in Quality Court. This is a historic building in the heart of London’s legal district, nestled quietly away from the hustle and bustle of the City. It offers discreet access whether you are a professional working in the area, or a resident of nearby areas. It is also within walking distance of Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and Temple Tube station.
Sessions are offered in English or in Greek.
Training, qualifications & experience
Before re-training as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I lived and worked in Germany, Greece, Oman and the United Arab Emirates and I bring this rich experience into my practice. I understand the impact of cultural, societal, and professional pressures on one’s sense of self. I have subsequently re-trained at the British Psychotherapy Foundation and the WPF Therapy.
I am a registered member of:
- the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)
- the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
- the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC)
- the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF)
I adhere to the code of conduct and ethical standards of these Professional bodies.
I have also worked as an Honorary Counsellor at the NHS, specifically with the Community Living Well service under the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. This role has provided me with valuable experience in delivering psychological therapies to a diverse client base, further enriching my practice.
Volunteering experience:
Volunteering is the thread that weaves service, social justice and personal growth into a single practice. Whether offering weekly emotional-and-practical support to blind and partially sighted Londoners through BlindAid, or working in the camps of Lesbos at the height of the European refugee crisis, I have witnessed how even brief acts of solidarity can restore dignity on both sides of the helping relationship. Those months on Lesbos also led me to spend two years producing the feature-length documentary Citizen Xenos, which follows Syrian families, local residents and international volunteers as they navigate the upheavals of displacement and welcome during one of the most significant humanitarian challenges of our time. The insights forged in these settings now inform and enliven my therapeutic perspective, reminding me every day that resilience, hope and the longing to be truly seen transcend all borders.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
