About me
Do you struggle to switch off at night, or find that anxiety, low mood, or difficult past experiences are keeping you stuck? I'm Tom, a psychotherapist offering a combination that most therapists don't - CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for sleep problems alongside EMDR, which helps people work through the anxiety, stress, or trauma that's often underneath poor sleep, low mood, and negative or limiting beliefs.
I work with adults experiencing insomnia and sleep difficulties, recurrent nightmares, anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, PTSD and trauma, and persistent negative or limiting beliefs. Whether sleep is the main problem, or something you've noticed alongside anxiety or low mood, we'll figure out together what's keeping you stuck and build a treatment plan that fits for you, to help you achieve lasting positive change.
All sessions are offered remotely, so you can access support wherever you are in the UK, at a time that works for you.
My approach is collaborative and evidence-based. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. We can start with a good, holistic assessment, agree what "better" looks like for you, and use the right approach for the job, whether that's CBT, CBT-I, or EMDR.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees
£70.00 per session
Additional information
Individual sessions are £70 for 60 minutes. For some work particularly EMDR sessions where we're processing traumatic memories it can help to have longer than a standard hour, so we have enough time to work safely and thoroughly, allow any distress to settle, and make sure you leave the session feeling grounded rather than mid-process. Where this applies, we'll agree it in advance, and these extended 90-minute sessions are £95.
Further information
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so you can ask questions and get a feel for whether what I offer might be of benefit to you no pressure, no obligation.
Sessions are £70 for 60-minutes and typically held weekly online via video link. I typically work with clients for anything between 4 and 16 sessions, depending on what we are working on sleep difficulties often respond well to a structured, time-limited CBT-I approach, while EMDR work is paced around you. With CBT-I, I often see clients experiencing significant benefits with their sleep after just a few sessions, once they understand what causes and keeps insomnia and sleep difficulties going, and make some changes.
If you're not sure whether CBT, CBT-I or EMDR is the right starting point, that's completely fine; that's exactly what we can discuss in our introductory call.
I look forward to speaking with you!
