About us
The Mind Tree Café is a not-for-profit community interest company, we currently offer low-cost counselling with a view to offering other wellbeing activities in the future. Clients can self-refer or may signposted via a GP. As a team, we believe that counselling can be instrumental in supporting good mental health and wellbeing and everyone should be able to afford and access counselling. With the NHS having long waiting lists, and not being able to see a GP face to face, this has had a negative impact on communities and individuals.
Life can be hectic and sometimes we need to talk things over with someone that is not close to us, that will give you the time and space you need to off load your thoughts and feelings. We can support you. Our rooms are cosy and private and offer a calming environment. We offer a non-judgemental service. We are individuals and each client is treated as such, the therapist will listen to you and support you to take the first steps towards exploring what is and isn’t working for you and how you might gain more insight to help you towards better mental health.
We offer 8 -10 sessions which will be face to face and we do offer online if required.
Members of our team are registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) this is the ethical framework in which we work, which covers all aspects of confidentiality.
Training, qualifications & experience
Our counsellors are trained to work professionally and ethically, with the best interests of our clients. Our team have varied skills and experiences which we find supports the therapeutic relationships with our clients.
Member organisations *

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
